Traveling Crofut Wine Bottle...hmmmm

Wonder why we named the blog the traveling Crofut Wine Bottle? Here is why.
I have some friends leaving on trips this last week, and they had to have a bottle...or two of wine for their trips, and wanted to send a photo of them on the beach with the Crofut wine. So, when you travel, take a bottle of wine and send a photo back and tell us where you have been. Hope to see a photo of happy people and a bottle from Iceland, or even the south island of new Zealand one of these days!

Welcome to the Crofut Family Winery

Welcome to the Crofut Family Winery

Hi and welcome to the first Crofut Family Winery blog! We opened on May 26th and the thirsty throng of people overwhelmed us and even the cash register. (We burned the thermal printer out of the cash register on Sunday, the 27th.)

Thanks for being so patient thru all the little glitches, and I hope your wait for the wine tasting was worth it. Here is a little recap of the fun things that have occurred: Sam, the elder son; now has the moniker of the “manual laborer” added to his name due to his comments with M.A. Rosko of Fox 9 on her visit to the vineyard. You can see the entire segment at: http://www.crofutwinery.com/news.htm

Jake the younger, is happily enjoying the weather and wants to bottle again when not checking the grapes in the vineyard on a 4 wheeler at 20 miles a minute! His favorite thing is to run the filler, or is it driving the 4 wheeler?

Back to more grape items. The grapes are in bloom, and if you want to smell a spicy sweet fragrance, now is the time to come and walk in the vineyard. It only happens about 2 weeks a year, and we affectionately refer to them as our Chia grapes due to the fuzzy flowering.

We have lots of Michael Godard fine art in the winery, available for viewing and purchase. Oh, a little surprise this last Saturday the 2nd. Michael was in town for an art show and conveniently showed up (Big Thanks Donnie) at the winery and hung out with us, King Turkalot and the goats. (Lucky) our littlest goat is now memorialized in the Crofut Family drawing Michael did for us. It is being framed, but we will have it back in the tasting room shortly. Go to: http://www.crofutwinery.com/news.htm to view some of the photos. We will be updating it shortly. In the interim, here is one for your viewing:

You never know what is going to happen at the Crofut Family winery, so come on out and wait to see who shows up. We have some motorcycle tours coming through the next two weekends and looks like the weather will be fine for a ride. Bring your collector bike or auto out and enjoy the wine, take a stroll through the vineyard, see some great art and explore the wonders of Scott County!

An upcoming event you need to plan to visit is:June 22-23 Jordan Art Fair in downtown Jordan. Pig in the Park at the Mill PondPark in Jordan, and the Jordan Valley Bike tour. Great art, food and a view! http://www.jordanchamber.org/art.htmhttp://www.jordanchamber.org/Pork%20in%20the%20Park%20(2).dochttp://www.jordanchamber.org/bike.htm

Last, but not least is the first availability of Crofut Family wines available for sale (not at the winery).

A BIG thank you to Cindy & Dwayne Bastyr of Trailside Liquor in New Prague. If we are not open, please stop by, visit with the friendly Trailside staff and pick up a bottle or two of your favorite Crofut Family wine.Remember, we are open on Sat 10-6 and Sunday Noon-6. See you in the vineyard!
Best, Don
